Data Show Better MRI Quality, Shorter Scan Times With AI-Powered Software

Vista is sharing two-year clinical study results indicating Vista Cardiac significantly improves workflow efficiency, ensures high-quality and consistent imaging, and scales cardiac MRI (CMR) programs to expand access to more patients.

Improvements over the last 26 months included:

  • 26% faster scans with improved image quality and consistency from all technologists
  • A 50% reduction in scan time variability, enabling shorter scheduling blocks
  • One-day access to CMR, reduced from a 28-day backlog
  • 50% more scan slots, enabling 900 additional scans without machine or personnel increase

CMR is the gold standard of cardiac imaging, allowing definitive diagnosis for all major cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial diseases, heart failure, coronary artery disease, valvular disease, and pericardial heart disease. However, only 2% of all U.S. MRI scanners are routinely used for CMR due to complicated workflows, unpredictably long scan times, and a shortage of trained technologists.

Vista addresses these challenges with its U.S. Food and Drug Administration-cleared Vista Cardiac image acquisition software, which automates and simplifies CMR scans, enabling all technologists to produce high-quality scans quickly, consistently, and efficiently. Unlike conventional CMR software, Vista Cardiac automates the tedious tasks required of a technologist with speed and precision. Consequently, a full-functional exam can be completed in just 12 minutes, compared to the 35-45 minutes typically required for traditional CMR or 20-25 minutes on average for an echocardiogram, while delivering superior clinical data and utility. Key automation features include:

  • Scan planning and localization in 30 seconds
  • Parameter tuning to ensure optimal settings from the start
  • Real-time motion and artifact detection for instant re-scans
  • In-line analysis while the patient is still in the scanner

Vista Cardiac reportedly is the only third party software cleared to control MRI systems for image acquisition and reconstruction. Designed for seamless and secure integration, the software is installed on a hospital-provided workstation within the facility’s network and communicates exclusively with the MRI. With its intuitive design and easy implementation, providers can be fully operational in days.
